Complaints about Health Professionals

The Alberta Ombudsman does not have jurisdiction to investigate complaints about individual health professionals, like doctors or nurses, but we can investigate complaints about the professional colleges that license and regulate them. Visit Regulated Health Professions Colleges to learn more about when our office could become involved.

Complaints about AHS Facilities or Care

The Alberta Ombudsman’s office does not have jurisdiction to investigate complaints about hospitals and facilities. If you have concerns about the quality of care at an Alberta Health Services (AHS) facility, you can contact AHS Patient Relations. If you receive a decision that you believe is unfair, our office may be able to get involved. Visit our Patient Concerns Resolution Process page to learn more.
