Patient Concerns Resolution Process

Yes! The Alberta Ombudsman can investigate complaints about the Patient Concerns Resolution Process (PCRP) of Alberta Health Services (AHS). Before you make a complaint to us, we want to make sure you’ve tried to resolve your complaint directly with the people involved.

We recommend trying to resolve your complaint directly with the PCRP before contacting us. Here’s the information for you and some tips on how to make your complaint.

How to Complain to AHS

  1. Contact the Patient Relations Department. A Patient Concerns Consultant (PCC) will review your complaint.
  2. If you remain dissatisfied after the PCC’s review is complete, request to have your concern reviewed by the Patient Concerns Officer (PCO).
  3. The PCO review is the final step in the PCRP process. If you believe the decision of the PCO to be unfair, you may request a review by our office.

Visit our Health Matters page if your complaint is about other matters outside of the PCRP.
