Yes! The Alberta Ombudsman can investigate complaints about the Seniors, Community and Social Services (SCSS) Ministry. Before you make a complaint to us, we want to make sure you’ve tried to resolve your complaint directly with the people involved. Here’s the information for you and some tips on how to make your complaint.
How to Complain to SCSS
Visit the Alberta Supports webpage for help with programs for seniors, people with disabilities, parents and families, homelessness, financial assistance, abuse and violence prevention.
You can reach out to the Alberta Support Centre online, by phone or at your local Alberta Supports office. Representatives will try and assist you in resolving your issue or direct you to the appropriate program. If needed, you may wish to raise your concerns to a supervisor or manager. If you’re still not satisfied, you may be able to escalate your concerns to the Appeals Secretariat.
Appeals Secretariat

If you receive a final decision from the appeal panel, you may contact us to file a complaint.

Court matters
Please note, the Alberta Ombudsman does not have jurisdiction to investigate matters decided by the court, including apprehension orders, permanent guardianship orders, and more. If you have concerns with a matter decided by the court, you may wish to seek legal advice .
