About Us

In Alberta, the positions of the Alberta Ombudsman and Public Interest Commissioner (Ombudsman/Commissioner) are held by the same person with the main office located in Edmonton.

The Alberta Ombudsman provides oversight of the provincial government to ensure fair treatment through independent investigations, recommendations and education within Alberta government authorities, professional organizations, municipalities, and the Patient Concerns Resolution Process of Alberta Health Services.

The Public Interest Commissioner oversees the disclosure and investigation of serious and significant wrongdoings in or relating to departments, public entities, offices of the Legislature and political offices, that are unlawful, dangerous to the public or injurious to the public interest.

The offices of the Ombudsman and Public Interest Commissioner (the Offices) are independent legislative offices and operate under the authority of the Alberta Legislature.

Role

The Director, Corporate Services (Director) is accountable to the Ombudsman/Commissioner and as a member of the Offices’ senior management team contributes to the overall leadership and effective management of the Offices.

Strong leadership, networking, and problem-solving skills are essential to navigate issues related to the independence of the Offices and their relationship with the Government of Alberta.

Accountable for the planning, development, and delivery of a broad continuum of corporate services in the areas of risk management, finance, human resources, information technology, accommodations, and administrative services, this role is multi-faceted.
