Provincial Remand and Correctional Centres

We can investigate complaints about Provincial Remand and Correctional Centres. Before you make a complaint to us, we want to make sure you’ve tried to resolve your complaint directly with the people involved. Here’s the information for you and some tips on how to make your complaint.

Centre Complaints

For complaints about a Provincial Remand or Correctional Centre, you may wish to raise your concerns in writing to the Centre Director. You can obtain contact information for the Provincial Remand and Correctional Centres here: https://www.alberta.ca/adult-correctional-remand-centres.

Health Complaints

Healthcare services for Provincial Remand and Correctional Centres are provided by Recovery Alberta. For complaints about the healthcare provided by the centre, you may wish to raise your concerns to the Patient Concerns Resolution Process (PCRP). Criminal Complaints

For complaints about criminal matters, you may wish to contact the police.

Federal Correctional Facilities

The Alberta Ombudsman does not have jurisdiction to investigate complaints about Federal Correctional Facilities. For complaints, please contact the Office of the Correctional Investigator.
