Corporate Services encompasses seven functional areas.
Business Planning: A three-year
business plan is prepared to deliver the Ombudsman’s
program initiatives in an effective, timely and consistent
manner.
Financial Management:
Works within the framework of the Financial Administration
Act and the Government Accountability Act to
direct and implement the Office’s fiscal planning, monitoring,
reporting and budgetary functions.
Human Resources: Administers all functions
including recruitment and training, classification, occupational
health and safety, employee relations, benefits management and
fee-for-service contract administration.
Information Technology:
Oversees automated system design, development, operational
support and maintenance of information technology and develops
strategic direction initiatives to enhance program delivery.
Communications: Co-ordinates communication
and information requirements, including the external web site,
annual report, promotional/informational materials, media releases
and press briefings.
Corporate Support: Develops and implements
administrative systems, including data processing, records management,
purchasing, property management, contract service management,
telecommunications, inventory control and security.
Freedom of Information and Protection
of Privacy: Serves as a consultant to ministries
regarding the legal interpretation of the Freedom of Information
and Protection of Privacy Act as it specifically pertains
to the Alberta Ombudsman's office.
